Sometimes when you go to work on a system you get the “i don’t know” how it happened. Whether it’s because your embarrassed or prideful that doesn’t always help. In a recent call to fix an infected computer I cleaned out temporary internet files, temp files and then proceeded to remove limewire, online games and an entire slew of “i don’t knows”. In that process i was able to see many of the not so reputably sites that could have caused the spyware infection. Please note that if your dealing with seasoned professionals there isn’t much we haven’t seen. By saying “I went here” or “I installed this” it can save both me and you time and money. As the saying goes “stuff” happens. Yes, of course, there are cases where you really don’t know how the system got messed up. I was once given a great quote in regards to life on the net. “If you go to a bad neighboorhood bad things usually happen. That’s why it’s called a bad neighborhood.” Remember that the next time your surfing the net on the same computer you run a business from or do your online banking. I always recommend that you should have a machine you don’t care about to do those things on or stop going to the bad neighborhood. – Ralph S Gould

As with most long time users of windows based computers we all know the name mcafee, norton or symantec. Some of the first in the field of antivirus applications. Over the years their applications have made improvements but for the most part they have been bigger applications., more intrusive and more of a system resource hog. I’d like to turn your attention to one of the most beloved (among IT specialists) anti virus and anti spyware applications on the market; Eset’s NOD32 software. www.eset.com. We have switched many of our clients away from McAfee and Symantec over the years to this great application. Simple to use, powerful and most importantly IT DOES NOT TAKE OVER your system. Google it, do your research and you will find this to hold true. Ask us today about taking back system resources. Speeding up boot times. Internet spedds and more. All by simplying going to a better application.
Many people think that just because they have spy-ware applications and anti-virus applications that they are are completely secure with nothing to worry about. What happens when you get the random pop-up window from a website and you click on the “close” button they have provided you with. When clicking on that button you have given their script permission to write to your computer. Now the ad-aware or spy-ware has been added to your computer. When in doubt close them all out. That’s right. close down all browsers via windows task manager or by right clicking in the toolbar area and selecting close. clear out browser caches regularly. remove temp files regularly. and if you don’t know the website don’t go to it. just because the search came up in google doesn’t mean its automatically safe. Here @ The IDS Tech; serving the greater Monmouth, Ocean Counties of NJ and beyond, we can work with you to show you how these things are done as well as get you setup on a routine schedule to ensure that your systems are safe and secure. As well as give you “best practices” while using your system. If you do on-line banking and paying bills or even purchasing products make sure your safe and secure. This is not only true of your business systems but your home systems too. – Thanks – Ralph S Gould
